Survivor Summit

September 12 @ 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
The Survivor Summit is an annual virtual gathering dedicated to suicide awareness and holistic well-being. This year’s theme, ‘Replacing Violence with Compassion,’ will focus on how we can reframe negative moments with self-love. We brought together some amazing speakers; check out the lineup below!

Recognizing Harmful Practices (Randi Taggart)

Violence doesn’t always look like screaming, yelling, fighting, or physical harm. Sometimes it’s the way we talk to ourselves. This year, we’re going to recognize those patterns without judgment and focusing on the small ways people can choose self-love.

Changing Self-Talk (Cara Jean Wilson)

Cara will reframe what it means to be human in a world that often labels anything different as a problem to fix. This talk will discuss how many of the struggles they experience are natural responses from a nervous system doing its job. Attendees will learn how to separate what they feel from who they are.

Losing a Loved One (Jolleen Washburn)

As a survivor of her own trauma, Jolleen will share the story of how her beloved son took his own life. This conversation will hold space for grief and the pain that follows suicide loss. Jolleen’s story will open a conversation about what it means to survive that kind of loss and how compassion can make people feel less alone in their grief.

Healing from Generational Trauma (Shavon Bormann)

Shavon will share her story of growing up with a father who suffered from Bipolar Disorder and how, despite her upbringing, she learned to become a happy human, a loving parent, and a better wife. This discussion will focus on the painful reality of generational trauma and the strength it takes to break harmful patterns.

Compassion for the Unknown (James A. Owen)

American comic book artist, publisher, and writer, James Owen, will share the strength that comes from embracing the unknown. His presentation will focus on what it means to keep moving forward when every step is unclear.

Building Connection and Community (Mallory Stonehill)

To close the summit, our co-host will facilitate an open roundtable discussion on community healing and support. Attendees are invited to reflect on what connection means to them and how shared spaces can promote authentic expression.

Let’s turn our Trauma into Triumph!
